Peter has spent more than five decades at the intersection of telecommunications, cloud computing, and applied AI, long before AI became a headline. He founded DrVoIP in 2008, moved the practice exclusively onto Amazon Connect and AWS in 2017, and between 2018 and 2022 built and sold Dextr, an Amazon Connect agent dashboard company acquired by CloudHesive, an AWS Global Partner, later rebranded ConnectPath. Today he works directly with organizations, and alongside established IT firms, on the kind of projects that need expertise most teams don't maintain in house every day.

His Journey

Fifty five years of reinventing himself alongside the technology

Technology has reinvented itself several times during Peter's career. He has simply enjoyed reinventing himself with it. The next difficult engineering problem remains more interesting than the last.

1969-1979

Western Electric, IT&T & Datapoint

Began his telecom career training as a central office switching installer for Western Electric, the manufacturing arm of the Bell System, learning iron work, battery operations, cross bar and stored program control switching, and microwave systems from the ground up. The next decade took him through IT&T and Datapoint/Teknekron Infoswitch while he earned a BS in Information Technology Management at Fordham University.

1986-1990

Founded Cobotyx Corporation

Founded Cobotyx Corporation, raised $6M in venture capital, grew it to a 22% market share, and was named Telecommunications Man of the Year by Teleconnect Magazine.

1998-1999

VP & COO, Franklin Telecom

Led Franklin Telecom's IPO on the American Stock Exchange, personally ringing the opening bell, and closed an $11M contract for what was then the largest VoIP network in the United States.

2002-2011

Built LANtelligence

Built and ran LANtelligence, a regional VoIP and networking systems integrator built around Cisco Call Manager and ShoreTel.

2008

Founded DrVoIP

Launched DrVoIP as a specialized engineering practice built to work directly with organizations, and alongside established IT firms, on communications and infrastructure projects.

2017

Went All In on AWS

Moved the practice exclusively onto Amazon Connect and AWS, and became an AWS Standard Consulting Partner the same year.

2018-2022

Built and Sold Dextr

Designed and built Dextr, an Amazon Connect agent dashboard product, from the ground up. Dextr was acquired by CloudHesive, an AWS Global Partner, in 2022 and later rebranded ConnectPath, real proof this is an engineering practice, not a theoretical one.

2023-Present

Early Into Generative AI

Became an early adopter of Generative AI on AWS, earning the AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Machine Learning Engineer, Associate, and AWS Generative AI Developer, Professional certifications as they were released, and building production Bedrock based applications for clients.

Author, Speaker, Educator

Publishes books on AWS, Generative AI development, and cloud contact centers, and shares hands on tutorials with a YouTube audience that has passed 825,000 training views.
