Network & Security Hardening

The Network Underneath Your Contact Center Is Part of the Job.

Assessments, firewalls, and VPN configuration.

A contact center is only as reliable as the network carrying it. DrVoIP has treated network security as its own discipline since 2008, long before Amazon Connect existed, and every engagement starts with the same question: what does your network actually look like today, and who can reach it?

What Hardening Actually Covers

Six disciplines, not a single firewall rule

This is the real service list we scope engagements from, not a generic security slide.

IT Security Assessments

A real review of your current network and posture before we touch a single setting.

Firewall Design, Configuration & Management

Rules built around how your contact center actually uses the network, not a stock template.

VPN Design, Configuration & Management

Hub-and-spoke or full mesh, architected for the remote and branch access your team actually needs.

Identity & Access Management

Who can reach what, reviewed and enforced, not left to whoever still has an old login.

Penetration Testing

White-hat testing that finds the gap before someone else does.

Acceptable Use Policy Development

The first question we ask on any assessment: where is your AUP? Most businesses don't have one.

Security Doesn't Start and End at the Firewall

  • Your network is interconnected with branch offices, home offices, coffee shops, hotels, and airports
  • Remote and hybrid agents are part of the attack surface, not an edge case
  • A contact center handling customer conversations and data is a target whether it feels like one or not
  • Hardening applied once at launch is already out of date a year later

Before Any Change Gets Made

What a real assessment actually checks

Most businesses call us after something already went wrong. This is what we look at so the next call isn't about the same problem.

What Gets Missed Without One

  • No Acceptable Use Policy, so nobody's agreed on what's even allowed on the network
  • Voice traffic competing for bandwidth with everything else on the LAN, with no QoS priority
  • Firewall rules nobody's reviewed since the day they were written
  • VPN access still active for people who left the company months ago
  • A flat network where one compromised laptop can reach everything else on it
  • Remote and branch agents connecting from hotel and coffee shop networks, with no coverage for it

What We Actually Check

  • Where's your AUP, and does it match how the network is actually used? The first question on any engagement
  • Network topology and QoS, prioritized specifically for voice traffic, not just data
  • Firewall rules, reviewed and tightened to what the contact center actually needs to reach
  • VPN architecture, hub-and-spoke or full mesh, matched to real remote and branch access patterns
  • Identity and access review: who can reach what, and whether that still makes sense
  • Penetration testing to confirm a fix actually holds, not just that it looks right on paper

How An Engagement Runs

Assess, design, harden, support

The same sequence whether the work is a standalone assessment or the security layer under a full Amazon Connect deployment.

  1. 1

    Assess

We start with the AUP question, then review network topology, firewall rules, VPN access, and who can reach what.

  2. 2

    Design

Firewall rules, VPN architecture, and access policies designed around how your contact center is actually used.

  3. 3

    Harden

Changes go live: firewall configuration, VPN setup, and access cleanup, verified with penetration testing before we call it done.

  4. 4

    Support

Ongoing monitoring and rule maintenance through AWS Managed Service, because a network hardened once and never touched again isn't hardened for long.

Proof, Not Hype

Remediation, not just configuration

How this actually ships, not a theoretical security slide.

Real Remediation

A VoIP network brought to 99.995% call quality and availability

Harsha Pattnaik's team came to DrVoIP with a VoIP implementation suffering major call quality and reliability issues. The fix was network and security remediation, not a new phone system.

Real Discipline

Security built into every deployment, not sold as an add-on

Encryption, firewalls, and hardening applied to every layer of the communication systems DrVoIP builds, the same standard whether the engagement is a single assessment or a full Amazon Connect deployment.

“He provided remediation for a VoIP implementation with major call quality and reliability issues, bringing it to a consistent 99.995% call quality and availability.”

Harsha PattnaikGlobal Technology Director, Cloud, Data Center, Security and Network Engineering

“DrVoIP has taken a very hands on approach to implementing our needs as we work to develop a replacement helpdesk solution. Our Helpdesk staff is very particular in their demands and DrVoIP has shown great flexibility in producing or adapting solutions to meet these.”

Brian CoxIT Director, ASMR

“I feel their knowledge of both the AWS product as well as our previous product has been a great asset in easing the transition, as they already know how our current solution works and what we will want from AWS in regards to mimicking certain features.”

Where This Fits In What We Build

Hardening isn't a separate product, it's one of five disciplines

Network and security work sits alongside the rest of Cloud Services. Here's exactly where it connects.

Why Cloud Services

See how hardening fits with network engineering, telephony, custom software, and integration.

Cloud & Virtualization Migration

The VPN and hybrid connectivity this migration work depends on, hardened from day one.

Explore ›

Migration From Legacy Systems

A warm port cutover that keeps your old system live as a fallback, hardened from day one.

Phone System Support & Maintenance

SIP trunk and session border controller configuration, the same hardening discipline applied to ongoing support.

Managed Service & Support

Ongoing monitoring and rule maintenance after hardening goes live, not a one-time handoff.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

It starts with one question: where's your Acceptable Use Policy? From there we review network topology and QoS for voice traffic, firewall rules, VPN architecture, identity and access, and finish with penetration testing to confirm the fixes hold.

It's usually where we start. Most businesses don't have one, and without it there's no agreed definition of what's allowed on the network in the first place, which makes the rest of an assessment guesswork.

Both. Network and security work has been a core DrVoIP discipline since 2008, not a task we subcontract out when it comes up.

Most of this work happens on networks that are already live. It's frequently the first thing we do before touching an Amazon Connect deployment at all, especially when a client is dealing with call quality or reliability issues.

Assessed and quoted per engagement, itemized, the same honest way as everything else we build. Ongoing monitoring after hardening runs through AWS Managed Service at AWS's own usage rate plus a flat management fee.
