Migration from Legacy Systems

Move Off Legacy. Without the Downtime.

Warm cutover planning that protects uptime.

Whatever you are running today, an aging on-premise PBX, an end-of-life ShoreTel or Cisco deployment, or another hosted platform you have outgrown, the risk was never the destination. It was always the switch itself. We plan every migration around one rule: your agents keep taking calls while we build.

The Real Risk

The risk was never leaving legacy. It was the switch itself.

Most teams do not stay on an aging phone system because they love it. They stay because the migration feels riskier than the platform. We built our process to remove that risk, not just talk about it.

  • A single cutover weekend with no way back if something does not work
  • Numbers ported cold, with no fallback if the new platform is not actually ready
  • Agents dropped onto a new system on day one with no side-by-side testing first
  • A vendor that has quietly stopped developing the platform you are still standing on

A real reason clients finally move

“ShoreTel had basically abandoned the ECC product with no new feature development in several years and the product was stuck at Version 9. Given the great unknown regarding the future of ShoreTel CPE solutions, this client made the decision to move to the cloud, and we were chosen to make that move painless.”

Come Prepared

What we need from you to scope the cutover

The fastest, cleanest migrations start with these five things already gathered.

  1. 1Access or an admin contact for your current phone system, so we can review call flows and configuration
  2. 2A list of your active DNIS numbers, and which ones are business critical
  3. 3Any existing integrations tied to your phone system: CRM, workforce management, call recording, or analytics
  4. 4Your current carrier information, so we can coordinate the port date directly with them
  5. 5A preferred cutover window, so warm port testing lines up with your lowest call volume

Ready to start discovery?

Bring these five details to a short call and we can scope your migration and put a realistic cutover date on the calendar.

The Warm Port Method

How we move you without going dark

Four phases, always in this order. Your legacy system never goes down until the new one has already proven itself.

  1. 1
    01

    Discover & plan

We map your current platform: DNIS numbers, call flows, queues, agents, and every system it touches, before any build work starts.

  2. 2
    02

    Build in parallel

Your Amazon Connect environment goes live on temporary numbers while your legacy system keeps handling every real call, untouched.

  3. 3
    03

    Test & warm port

Existing numbers forward to the new platform once it is proven. Your old system stays live as a fallback until it is no longer needed.

  4. 4
    04

    Cut over & support

A port date is set with your carrier. Numbers swap over without service interruption, and we stay on to support the transition.

Real Cutovers, Real Clients

Two legacy platforms. Two clean migrations.

FMG Suites and ASMR both made the jump off their legacy phone systems using the same warm port method described above. Here is what they told us afterward.

Real Cutover

FMG Suites

A marketing firm serving the financial services community, running several different phone systems, both hosted and on-premise, across five core service centers in the Western US.

40+ distributed agents cut over to one Amazon Connect instance with zero downtime, using the same warm port method described above.

“DrVoIP and team are very knowledgeable on AWS and specifically in our case the Connect product. DrVoIP was able to build out a brand new call flow for our main business and several other phone systems brought in through acquisition.”

Sean KennedyIT Manager, FMG Suites
Real Cutover

ASMR

An Accenture Federal Services company, migrating off a ShoreTel Workgroup deployment as part of a broader shift to Microsoft Skype for Business.

10+ DNIS numbers ported over using the warm port method, with the ShoreTel system staying live as fallback until the cutover was proven.

“We determined to leave our ShoreTel deployment behind and migrate to a cloud solution that includes Microsoft Skype for Business, but we still needed a call center to replace our ShoreTel Workgroup application and we felt AWS Connect could do the job.”

Jason AgcaoiliManager, ASMR

“I feel their knowledge of both the AWS product as well as our previous product (ShoreTel) has been a great asset in easing the transition, as they already know how our current solution works and what we will want from AWS in regards to mimicking certain features.”

Brian CoxIT Director, ASMR

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

We stand up your new Amazon Connect environment on temporary numbers while your legacy system keeps running untouched. Once it is tested and proven, your real numbers forward over to the new platform, and the old system stays live as a fallback until we know for certain it is no longer needed.

Nothing goes down, because nothing has switched over yet. Your legacy system keeps handling every real call until we have proven the new environment works, so a problem during testing costs us time, not your uptime.

No. Agents get access to the new environment during the build and testing phase, before a single real call depends on it, so cutover day is a number swap, not a training day.

No. Your DNIS numbers port over to the new platform as part of the warm port process. Nothing gets reissued, and callers never notice a change.

Not automatically. The Quickstart covers a new Amazon Connect environment. Moving you off an existing platform, porting numbers, and rebuilding legacy call flows is scoped and quoted as part of your migration plan, so you know the full cost before we start.
